Decided to stop by Butter in Landmark on my way home from Central to get some cakes for dessert after dinner. I grabbed their famous carrot cake (which I’ve had before), and their red velvet cake (which I hadn’t tried yet). The original red velvet cake must have sold out as instead there was a festive red velvet with candy cane version. Looking at the display at looked divine and I just got it. At $90 a slice they are bound to be good 👍 right? Both cakes were delicately packaged for my journey home on public transport 😔 First the carrot cake, it was moist, smooth and dense as it should be and it isn’t very sweet like those from my hometown of New Zealand 🇳🇿(adjusted to HK market), because of this, the taste is very subtle. The cream cheese icing is probably the tastiest part of the carrot cake. However, I miss the nutmeg and cinnamon flavors that goes into one. The Red Velvet cake is a beauty, the layers are immaculate and the body of the cake was moist, smooth and fluffy with a peppermint cream cheese and flakes of crush candy cane sprinkles giving it a crunchy texture. Again I couldn’t taste the layers which should be a mild cocoa taste, maybe it was overpowered by the peppermint cream cheese. I think I gotta go back and try the original version some time. The verdict is, the carrot cake is the best of the 2 and I was told by the cashier their best seller anyway. I miss carrot cake, as seldom can get it on the Kowloon side where I live, so I’m happy to see it here in HK ☺️ Good effort on presentation and packaging, but I can’t taste the x-factor!

It’s a shame it’s closing down cause the food here was good, the ambience great and it was a nice vibrant family restaurant as well. Service here was always mediocre if there was one criticism I would make 😬 On its last night before closing for good we waited for a table for around 2 hours, heaps of people wanted to say good bye plus it coincided with their happy hour special. When we finally got in around 8pm most of their dishes were sold out, but we were happy our favorite dishes were still available. We ordered the rib eye steak with fries, the porkie pepperoni pizza and the prawn linguine. The rib eye steak was cooked a perfect medium as requested, it was tender and juicy, high grade meat used and the fries were hot and crispy. The pizza, as usual the base was crispy and fluffy which was the best thing about them. Off course the prawn linguine was excellent the linguine was Al Dente, prawns soft and succulent with garlic and a light tomato sauce base combining it all together. Finally dessert, we order the peanut brownie but were served the chocolate fondant 🤷‍♂️Oh well the waiters were so god damm busy we took what we could get. It was delicious and a perfect ending to our meal. Overall great closing down meal, very festival party atmosphere to say good bye to Jamie’s Italian. Service mediocre as usual 😂 But we will miss you and thanks for the great food and family memories!

My wife and I came here for our regular lunch at Mango Tree. We really like the lunch menu as the portions are just right for us and at a reasonable price. The setting and hygiene of the restaurant is also very good. The service and Thai waitresses are very polite and friendly. We ordered the prawn cakes for our starters. and the prawn pad Thai and pineapple fried rice for our mains washed down with a couple of cold ice lemon teas. The prawn cakes are $20 each and well worth it as they use probably more than that in prawns making em. They are a generous size, crispy on the outside and soft n bouncy on the inside. The prawn pad Thai is probably what a majority of the people order here, and it’s easy to see why. It is stir fried perfectly without to much oil and is a massive portion relative to other places in Elements. It is beautifully wrapped in a lattice egg wrapping and topped of with 3 x juicy prawns. Once you squeeze in a bit of lime and some crushed peanuts it is an explosion of favours in your mouth. The pineapple fried rice is a smaller portion, but again it is not to oily. It is not as fragrant as the pad Thai but it suits my pallet as they don’t add in heaps of the pork floss. I think they had some pieces of sweet and sour pork on the side along with cashew nuts and a slice of tomato and cucumber.

A few of use came here to have a few beers and food after work to wind down. The first thing we liked about the place was how spacious and comfortable it was with an exotic and relaxing atmosphere. We had a few beers and ordered a snack platter, nachos, a pepperoni pizza and the Louisiana pizza. There were 4 of us and the snack platter was slightly smaller then we expected, but it was presented nicely and the spicy chicken wings were delicious along with the hot crispy french fries. Next came the nachos which again was very tasty and had enough toppings of cheese, salsa, sour cream, olives and with lots of jalapeños. But the best part for us were their gourmet pizzas, the pepperoni pizza had 6 slices and I think was about 12 inches in size, but it was a great tasting pizza with lots of mozzarella cheese and pepperoni . The Louisiana pizza, same in size, had chicken breast, mozzarella cheese, sour cream and sweet chilli sauce and was delicious, it is probably one of the best pizzas I’ve ever eaten in HK. The base of the pizzas are thin and crispy so that’s why the ingredients are generous and the main highlight of the pizzas! The only negative thing is don’t expect the food to fly out as I suspect the kitchen only has one oven or chef or something like that. This didn’t bother us as we were slowly drinking and talking amongst ourselves.

A group of us came here for gourmet burgers for a family birthday get-together and unfortunately we were disappointed. I will just describe the burger I ordered which was the Bacon cheese burger. The comments from this burger generally apply to the rest of the 5 burgers we ordered. Firstly the beef patty is pretty thick, and as the burgers were cooked very quickly, the beef patty is obviously precooked and only reheated. This in turn makes the meat patty not very juicy and also results in over-cooked beef. The beef patty is tasty, but a precooked beef patty is not what you would expect from a restaurant selling gourmet burgers. Secondly these burgers are virtually impossible to eat without them falling apart on you. They seem to compensate for the precooked dry beef patty by using thick cut juicy tomatoes with a slimy salad dressing which turns the burger into a big slippery wet mess when you grab hold of it to eat. The tomatoes are the first things to come flying out of the bun and to prevent this they should use slightly larger buns or slice the tomatoes thinner. So don’t even bother to order the double decker beef burger unless you want a mess. What’s worst they don’t offer wet tissues to wipe up the mess left on your mouth and hands. Eventually we all gave up and reluctantly used knifes and forks to eat our burgers. Finally the service is not to good, despite there not being a service charge, when you book you don’t even get the minimum dinning time of 1.5 hrs like most places, and everything is self service even for the poor person going to the counter to remember the orders for 6 people including sides and the drinks. Can’t say I’d come back here again until they make some changes. There are better burger joints around Hong Kong at this price.

I came here on Tuesday for lunch with my family. We ordered the pasta of the day which was sea urchin carbonara lunch set and 2 x prime rib sandwich sets. The sets came with drinks which we ordered the freshly squeezed lemonade plain, green and red colours. Note the plain one is really plain, order the green (cucumber) or red (raspberry) colour is better. We chose 2 x soup of the day which was cream of cauliflower and beef and barley as the entrees for our sets. The service was good, the soups were mediocre, nothing outstanding but the same standard as you expect from a normal Chinese western style restaurant but at a lower price. The prime rib sandwich wasn’t as good as it use to be, the bread wasn’t crispy nor did it have enough butter and was cold, not sure if it was toasted. The prime rib was warm and very tender, juicy with a great beef taste, I’d prefer more of the slices were medium rare instead of mixed. The fries were good and well seasoned, but the portion seems to have got smaller. However the pasta was really smooth and creamy flavour which was probably the highlight. Took the apples home as we were full but they weren’t crispy! Some more attention to quality control is required, but I’d still go back! Finally the restaurant setting is good and hygiene is good and clean.

This place is always full as it is probably the best value for money in the Elements mall. It was the first time I tried the place and I came right on 12pm just to get a seat. I ordered the beef udon/ sushi set lunch, the waiting time was within 15 mins which is acceptable, and the first thing that struck me about the lunch set was the nice presentation. The salad was fresh with the right amount of dressing, the potato croquette was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the sushi was moist, wrapped well and had seafood taste. The size of the sushi here is generous and I thought the best piece was the tuna/spring onion sushi. But for me the highlight of the set was the beef in the udon, it was the lean, tender with beef flavor. Perfect for the cold winter weather. Finally the green tea here has lots of green tea in it, and it keeps being topped up regularly without asking. Would definitely come back again because of the food and good service and clean environment.

A Hk style breakfast is mostly the same every place you go. However I prefer to come to Tsui Wah for the slightly better quality and always order set B. Why do I order it? To avoid the process meat. Set B consist of scrambled eggs with a crispy buttered bun and satay beef with instant noodles. The good thing with Tsui Wah is it’s consistency, no matter when you go it’s almost the same. The scrambled eggs are moist and never over cooked, the crispy bun is just that, crispy and not overly buttered. The instant noodles have bite to them as they are not overcooked and the satay beer is tasty and tender with a tad of spice. To top it of is the milk tea, which is my favorite. All for $35 dollars it is all worth it for me, as the environment and cleanliness of the place is much better than your average char chan teen.

We needed a quiet cosy place on a winter night to take a break and found this gem of a place. The coffee is fairly good and not weak, and their red velvet cake is awesome as its not overly sweet, moist and has a tasty icing. Recommended place to take a break from the busy streets of Jordon.

First time here and we tried the executive lunch set. The complimentary bread rolls were piping hot which was a good sign. For the starters we ordered the scallops and mushroom soup, both these were average and can find in many normal western style restaurants in HK. For the mains we both ordered the sirloin steak (as it was a steak house) and requested medium rare. When it arrived the sear on the steaks immediately signalled to me they were over cooked, I was right, in fact they were between medium to well done and meant were tough to cut but they were juicy. Being a steak house this is unacceptable, however as it was a lunch set I didn't bother to complain. In fact looking around at the other diners who ordered the steak theirs were also overcooked. The desserts, a strawberry tart with ice cream and cheese selection were average, nothing special. I think when you come here your paying for the view rather than the food. I'll definitely order al la carte next time, however this lunch was a very disappointing experience.
