One of the favorite cuisine I ever been to is an Indian cuisine, I’d developed an special interest for Indian food ever since my time in UK. Indian cuisine is extremely popular in UK and there are many excellent Indian cuisines around London etc. They all are extremely high in standard in terms of food quality, interiors and services.
So when I came back to Hong Kong, I’d been always looking for an Indian cuisine which can replicate the high standards of UK’s Indian cuisine.
Many people may think Chungking Mansion is a lousy place, but to me, it’s a catering paradise! Especially for someone who loves Indian (Halal) food.
One day, I decide to date my dear friends to one of the Indian cuisine in Chungking Mansion because I miss Indian food so much. However I realized a couple of my friend never had Indians before because they can’t eat anything spicy. Of course, for those who understand curry, not every curry are spicy e.g. Korma etc. I managed to persuade them to join our curry night because I believe Indian food is one of the most exciting foods we can find in the world. My friend recommended me to P.M Club, so I decide to have a try.
Basically, almost every Indian cuisine in Chungking Mansion is excellent in quality, of course before you get into any cuisine in the Mansion; you have to get through a lot of foreigners who always lurking around at the entrance of Chungking Mansion to persuade people to pay a visit their cuisines. My suggestion is that don’t ignore them because they always serve you some bargains which you will never going to expect before – 20% VIP cards, free drinks etc.
The waiters and chefs in P.M Club are very friendly, very passionate; they greet us all the way and recommended anything good from the menu. Remember that a couple of my friends which cannot eat spicy, they recommended lots of suggestions to them as well, so we were very well serviced and accommodated. The cuisine itself is lightly decorated, with a very warm feel of a typical Indian home.
Poppadoms are always the starters to any Indian food. I love these poppadoms because it had a sense of pepper taste. The sauces which come with the poppadoms are very nice as well - I especially like the mango chuney. It will built you up for the further ‘challenges’ ahead nicely!
First to come is chicken tandoori, it is this best chicken tandoori I ever had! The chicken is very attractively cooked, it was served on an iron plate, the whole dish is very attractive and the smell is just so good that once it arrived on our table I can’t help to grab myself a piece of chicken! The taste, the juiciness of the chicken is absolutely superb, it’s just taste so nice that the taste of the herbs, peppers, chilies can all taste in one go, and a very large portion of chickens as well.
Full marks, absolutely no negative. I’ll highly recommend this dish to everybody.
chicken tikka masala & naan
chicken tikka masala & naan
Because I know not everyone can eat spicy, so we had order kormas, tikka masala, rogan josh, saagwala, bhuna, dopiaza. Out of these curries rogan josh is the spiciest out of the lot (I personally fancy a madras or vindaloo because I love spicy but I do care about my friends). Still, I love the curries which we had ordered, especially the mutton rogan josh, the lamb was cooked so nicely that the sauce was well absorbed into the lamb and the sauce was just amazing, fair bit of spiciness with a strong taste of tomato paste. The chicken korma also we loved very much (Maybe because korma is not spicy) the taste of yogurts and coconut milk makes the curry very delicious and attractive.
This is the first time I had chicken saagwala, it’s a curry which base on spinach, and it’s a tasty, nutritious and healthy dish. I’m actually amazed as the first impression that I never had a curry that look so green before, aside the outlook of the dish, the taste is simply amazing, the chicken is tenderly cooked; the hint of spiciness of the sauce and the taste of spinach was so good that this can be my most favorite curry dish of the night.
To complete a perfect Indian meal, rice and naan are essential. We had order Indian fried rice and all sorts of different naans (butter naan, garlic naan, cheese naan, mutton naan and onion naan), yet all the naans we ordered are excellent, they are all freshly baked and very well baked, not one piece of naan is overcooked and they all bold very well with the curries. Simply no words can describe how delicious the foods were.
In the end, the bill is $839 (including 10% VIP discount) for 7 people. Consider with all the delicious food we had, the services they provided, it’s an absolute bargain.
We all enjoy the food, enjoy the services, and simply enjoy the night.
When we leave the owner of the cuisine offer all of us a VIP card and a handshake. This sum up how friendly and passionate they are, maybe it’s a part of their culture but for us, we like it very much and defiantly will come again.
