Lab made seriously has a way to lure customers to come back over and over again because they always come out with new ice cream flavors! Not only do they have interesting flavors but it also tastes good! During this visit, I got to try out all the flavors on the menu.

Horlick & wheatgerm: The ice cream is basically horlick flavor and then topped with wheatgerms. The ice cream is smooth but I wish the horlick flavor was stronger rather than just rich creamy ice cream with a light hint of horlick. Crunchy sea salt ice cream w/ caramel sauce: This one is the best out of the four flavors this time! I love the saltiness of the ice cream while there's chunks of crunchy cereal like crackers inside and then you get a hint of sweetness from the caramel sauce. It's the best combination since you get so many different taste and texture within one bite. Creme Brulee: This is not the most exciting ice cream. It seems like a typical caramel ice cream and then topped with sugar candy on top. The candy on top is very sweet and sticky so it's kind of hard to eat since it gets stuck on your teeth. lychee yogurt with longan: This is the least favorite out of the four. The lychee flavor was present but it wasn't a pleasant match with a yogurt base ice cream. It almost tasted like some kind of cough syrup.

Hungry Korean is a fast food restaurant but the food that's served here is definitely better than what you would've expect. I ordered the bibimbop with beef and I was not disappointed. It was sizzling hot in a stone pot and all the ingredients were placed nicely. There were spinach, bean sprout, mushroom, carrot, cabbage and then topped with your choice of meat and a raw egg. Then there's the sweet and spicy sauce served on the side so you can add to the rice as you like. I also like how there were enough ingredients where you would get a bite of veggies and meat as you eat your rice. The meat is tender and not overly salty. It's also nice how the rice wasn't burnt on the bottom but just cooked perfectly that it has a crispy layer on the bottom of the pot. For the price and the quality of the food, I think hungry Korean is worth the visit. 

My first time having lunch here, so decided on trying out the daily special chirashi bowl. The set comes with soup and salad but no dessert if you order the special of the day. My bowl of chirashi came out and all I see are small chopped up pieces of tuna & salmon sashimi with one piece of scallop then topped with couple salmon roe. There's also couple pieces of tomago(Japanese egg) that's mixed in. The fish was so sparse on top that I can see the rice on the bottom. I had to eat my sashimi sparingly in order for me to not run out sashimi to go with my rice later. One thing I would say nicely about this place is the sashimi is still pretty fresh. Other than that, I wouldn't come back and order this lunch set again.

I've never tried lunch at Cafe Causette, so when my friend suggested we go have lunch there I was very excited. It gets very packed during lunchtime too, so reservation is recommended. We arrived around 12:30 and the place was already packed! The menu is very extensive here ranging from Asian cuisines to very classic western food. I picked the pulled pork, lamb, beef trio this time since I was craving for some good western food. I personally don't eat lamb, so the waiter changed it to two beef burgers instead of the lamb. I love the presentation of the dish. It's lined up on a wooden board with wooden sticks specifying what kind of meat is in the burger. The beef burger was very tender with tangy bbq sauce. Every bite was juicy but not soggy. The pork was even better! The meat was marinated so well that the pork just pulls apart. The sauce is very similar to the beef, but a little sweeter than the beef sauce. It's the perfect combination with the french fries! 

Had a light dinner here one night and thought I would write about their orange soufflé served in a traditional Chinese pot! The presentation just caught my eyes when it came out. A crispy sheet of sugar net on top that covers the soufflé like a sphere. The soufflé is more sponge cake like rather than the french style. It has a strong orange flavor and it's very fluffy. The only thing that needs improving is probably the sugar crisp on top is way too sweet and too sticky to eat. Overall, loved the interesting presentation and loved the Asian twist to the classic soufflé. 

Masu offers an extensive lunch set menu. Today, I decided on trying the bento box lunch set. Each set comes with soup, salad, steamed egg, and dessert.

The bento box has a great combination of 5 pieces of sashimi, 5 pieces of sushi, then 2 fried oysters, grilled beef tongue and grilled mackerel. The sashimi is very fresh and I can tell it's good quality. The sushi also came with very high quality ingredients such as uni! Then I was surprised that the tempura it came with is actually fried oysters since usual bento box would only come with vegetable tempura. So that definitely made me feel like the set is a good value. The oysters were hot and fried perfectly. I usually don't eat beef tongues, but these were very well marinated and super tender!The least favorite out of the bunch is probably the grilled fish. It's too overcooked so it's very dry. Overall, this is a great bento box for people that don't know what to order because you basically get to have a little bit of everything. The service was great here as well, never did I need to ask someone go fill my tea or to take my dishes away. I would definitely want to come back for other choices! 

Linguini Fini has always been one of the pasta places I wanted to try out. On a weekly lunch get together with a friend, we decided to try it out. Located inside the L Place, it's a pretty big restaurant with lots of tables. We made a reservation anyways so we dont have to wait. We both decided to try out the three course set lunch($118) which comes with either a soup or salad or an appetizer (8 hr tripe), then a choice of their signature pasta or grilled beef tongue, followed with a drink and a cookie for dessert.

I chose the Roasted pepper & eggplant soup for appetitzer. The soup tasted like a tomato base soup with a hints of roasted pepper flavoring. I think the eggplant just give a little thickness to the soup but you can't really taste the eggplant. The soup was light and very refreshing to drink. Although I would prefer it a little bit more smooth, I think it's a good soup overall. Then for the entree, I chose the classic linguini fini. It's basically a fresh made tomato sauce tossed in pasta. I like how you can tell the sauce is freshly made because there are chunks of tomatoes in it and it has the tangy tomato flavor rather than your store bought tomato sauce aroma. The pasta is cooked al dente which is the chewier pasta. The pasta was good, but it wasn't amazing. I wish there are more components to add a little bit more depth to the dish rather than just simple tomato sauce with no surprises. I got bored eating it when I was half way through the dish. After we were done with the entree, we ordered iced tea to end our meal. But the service was so bad that we waved down 3 different people to check on our drink order and we still didn't get our drink after 20 minutes. Finally, a waiter checked the computer and realized our order was never placed! So the drink came out very quickly after the order was placed. Then, we had to ask the waiter to bring out our cookies quickly since we waited so long for the drinks already. But it took them another 10 minutes just to pull out some already made cookies to the table. Good thing the cookies were pretty delicious peanut butter cookies so I was less angry at the situation.

I finally got the chance to try these famous Jenny Bakery cookies! I tried the 4 mix cookies, and it had 2 types of original flavored butter cookies, and 2 coffee flavored ones. Yes, the cookies are very rich and melts in your mouth. But since I bake pretty often myself, I can tell these cookies consist way too much butter for your own health! These cookies are calories overload! The original butter cookies are the worse! When I picked one up, it instantly fell apart and that shouldn't happen to a well made butter cookie. The only one that I can bare from the bunch is probably the coffee one with some dried fruits and nuts. This one atleast didn't fall apart and is the crunchier one out of the 4. Also, the coffee flavor is very strong in these cookies, so if you are a coffee lover, I think you'll enjoy the coffee flavored butter cookies. Besides that, I honestly don't understand why these cookies are so special. They should post up their nutrition facts in their shops and see if people are still willing to eat it.

My friend and I randomly pondered into this restaurant since the restaurant name caught my eyes. We wanted something healthy and light before we head out for drinks. The restaurant was very quiet at around 7:00, so we got seated right away. As we sat down, we were told that we have to return the table by 8:30 since there were bookings after us. We looked puzzled because the restaurant only had one more table besides us. The waitress did not offer us water and did not ask us if we had anything question about the menu nor tried to explain to us about their happy hour. We had to wave her down to tell us what was the happy hour and asked for water. The restaurant offers tapas happy hour for buy 3 get 1 free dish, but the tapas did not look too apealing so we opted for entrees. This restaurant offers a lot of vegetarian choices but there are also plenty of meat dishes to choose from too. The menu is pretty extensive from soups, salads, tapas, entrees, and pastas. Since I was trying to eat healthy, I decided to give the chickpea burger in pita bread a try. Ive never had a chickpea patty so was very curious on how good this can be. Surprisingly, the chickpea patty was delicious! The patty is basically mashed chickpeas formed into a patty, but it was light yet flavorful to be eaten by itself. The burger came with a side of sweet and sour dipping sauce and a cucumber yogurt dressing. Both of the sauces went great with the burger. I love how the pita bread is used instead of a burger bun, which makes it healthier and less calories! The lettuce and tomato is just a bonus to make it more like a burger. One thing about the patty though, it gets really messy trying to eat it since the patty falls apart really easily.

Throughout dinner, the waitress was unintentive, and honestly not friendly at all. We left at 8:30 exactly and the restaurant wasn't even full, so I dont know why the waitress put a time limit on how long we can dine. Other than the horrible service, I think the food is great and lots of interesting choices. But I wouldn't suggest coming if you dont want to deal with bad customer service!

My friend and I decided to stop by Madam Sixty Ate for their restaurant week special dinner menu.

The restaurant ambiance was nice and quiet but with a twist of modern decor to it. We sat on a long couch with pillows which made it very relaxing and comfortable.

The pre-fixe menu did not come with a drink but you can add extra money to add a drink. I believe it was around $40-$70 depending if you want a cocktail or a mocktail. I went with a mocktail which was like a strawberry lemonade drink with a fizz to it. It was light and refreshing. My friend went with a white wine from their drink menu.

Appetizers:

Creamed sunchoke soup, foie gras, chestnut mousse, bitter choclate When you see the ingredients, the first you think about is how interesting all these flavors would incorporate. But when I had a couple scoops..all I taste was that strong foie gras flavor which I think covered everything else that was in the soup. The soup was also very creamy, almost too overpowering to finish the whole bowl for one person.

ocean trout, picked knotroot, the season's first peas in many forms, thyme and marfaram from madam's garden This appetizer is one of the more interesting presentation out of the whole meal. As the name suggested, it really reminds you of a pot in a garden. There's basically different type of steamed vegetables inside with a cream type of sauce. It's light and the vegetables were very soft and sweet.

Main course:

Top sirloins of Wagyu beef, winter carrots in technicolors, smoked parsnips, foie gras and pumpernickel croque madamI really like the presentation of the the dish. The wagyu beef was cooked medium rare, so it was really pink. The meat was juicy and flavored nicely with a chargrilled flavor. But the meat was a little on the chewy side even though it claimed to be wagyu beef that they use. The vegetables on the dish was very bland to me so nothing else stood out from the dish.

Roasted pigeon, blackberry gel, fromage fraix, picked hazelnut This was my friend's entree choice. I had a bite of the pigeon meat and it was a lot better than my wagyu beef dish. The meat was cooked perfectly that the meat was tender and lots of flavor. The blackberry gel was a good pairing with the pigeon meat as well.

Dessert:

Amaretto caramel espuma, almond bavarotts, blood orange praline citrus sorbet, shaved coffee shortbread The only thing that really stood out to me was the refreshing orange sorbet. It's light and citrusy for someone that wants a light dessert. The shaved coffee shortbread also gets stuck to the sorbet as you scoop it up, but I didn't like the combination of the two. I thought the coffee shortbread actually takes away to fresh and light flavors that the sorbet gives to the taste bud. The crispy caramel espuma and almond bavarotts also didn't contribute much to the dish either because it didn't really go well with the sorbet.

Chocolate rocks, apricot sorbet, milk meringue, apple brulee, choc glass The apricot sorbet was on the bottom, then the chocolate rocks, and then apple brulee and milk meringue were sprinkled on top. The presentation was nice as usual with the other dishes. But, the dessert was so small that you really dont get a good taste of all the ingredients in there. I also thought there were too much different ingredients in there that clouds your palate into distinguishing anything from the dish. The chocolate rocks were good on its own though, very crispy and very rich chocolate flavor. The apricot sorbet was also good on it's own since the flavor was fresh and the sorbet was very smooth.

Lastly, we ordered chocolate lollipops with raspberry ice cream filling because we heard they are a specialty here. The lollipops did not disappoint, it was crunchy on the outside and the cold ice cream on the inside really make a great combination. They always have different flavours, so definitely can come back and try out other flavors. The set also came with coffee or tea at the end of the meal to wash down everything. Overall, I had a great experience in seeing all the innovative plating and also different ingredients put together. But I think madam sixty ate still can improve on not just throwing too much flavors in one dish. I will definitely come back to try their regular tasting menu and maybe try the afternoon set.
