Seldom in Mong Kok. Found this small ramen restaurant and could not resist to go in! Small restaurant with counter seats. Just feel like in Japan! Staff was really friendly and polite. He was really gentle when he said every words. ordered the grilled chuck ramen in prawn soup. Accidenly add extra tamago 😅 Ramen comes in generous portion of beef, fungus. Soup is really rich of prawn flavour. I love strong flavour food and this is my cup of tea! Beef not super tender but full of beef flavour. Smiling when I am having this lovely warm Bowl of ramen. Good to hear Locanda is doing weekend brunch. One more spot for boozy brunch on my list now! A very good deal for the brunch package. $450 for food. There are two free flow packages. $200 and $350. Both including bubbles (Prosecco/ champagne), red wine, white wine, soft drinks, beer, water and coffee/tea. How good is that? After serving bread basket, few starters were served for sharing. Burrata, Tomato Salad, Fresh Basil Panzanella, with Anchovy, Braised Red Onion, Tuna Sauce This is my first time having this dish. My Italian friends explained this dish is a classic salad, with bread and tuna. Love it! The bread was all soaked with the delicious dressing. Mixed Cold Cuts, marinated zucchini Generous amount of cold cuts serving on a wooden board. Classic! Grilled Squid Salad, Basil Pesto, Green Beans Love this salad as well! Basil pesto is so fresh and it goes really well with the squid and the potato. There’s also a hot starter grilled Toscana Salsiccia, with Roma tomato sauce The Italian sausages were served in small hot casserole in a rich tomato sauce. My friends said the dish made them missing home Each of us can choose one dish for main course. We all pick a pasta dish. “Gentile” Tubetti, with eggplant, tomato, ricotta cheese. Tubetti is al dente! Sauce is so rich! Always a great combination with tomato, basil and ricotta. Can’t never go wrong! “Gentile” Linguine, Gambero Rosso, Spring Vegetable Sauce (+$250) This is the high light of my brunch! Red prawn from Sicily. So fresh and I was surprised it was in a pretty decent size! The sauce is so rich of seafood flavour. Pasta is al dente as usual! Feel like heaven! Homemade apple tart, Locanda Tiramisu A good tiramisu and coffee to finish lovely brunch! Locanda is always one of my favourite restaurants for some great Italian food. More people should know this place and visit them. Try out their food and you won’t regret!

Got a friend visiting me at Ma Wan. Have to take him to visit one of my favourite spot here. It’s busy at the weekend as usual! Luckily enough to get a spot outdoor so his dog could walk around. Ordered few coffee, including my favourite Cafe Latte with Oat Milk, and the iced banana latte I recommend my friend. For food we had the drumsticks, fries and spinach pasta. Was impressed by the pasta especially the plating and presentation. It’s fresh and rich! Pretty decent dish. They have launched Private Kitchen dinner for few coming Friday evenings. Will try it out soon! Really looking forward and will write a review on it! Stay tuned ;)

This is my favourite casual omakase place. Suddenly want some sushi with friend so just drop by casually. If you would like to compare them with other premium omakase restaurants, don’t come! For a lunch omakase costing you $398, they give you more than $398 quality. As I always say, expect according to how much you pay. Obviously, chef is not very skilful. As the cut, the size of my plate is different with the one on my friend’s plate. This $398 omakase is available for lunch only. Salad, 5 sashimi, 5 sushi , 1 handroll and soup is included. With this quantity and decant quality, no complains

Been to NOC in Sai Ying Pun and definitely love there. The atmosphere, friendly staffs, and great quality coffee and their food. Went to this NOC is Tsim Sha Tsui East before seeing an art show. Dining experience is totally different from what I had in SYP NOC. Services is soso. Coffee still great but food is a bit sloppy. This pasta is very watery. Really got no idea how it happened. So the pasta is a bit soft under this bed of water. And the egg was a bit over, not running when we cut it up. Guess sometimes it’s difficult to control the exact quality for all different branches. Maybe I should only stick with the one in SYP from now on.

Tried to visit Plume for several time but always in a bad time. Heard they have a good deal “Buy 1 get 1 free” for their set lunch for their 1st Anniversary. Booked a date and fingers crossed the weather would be great! Hadn’t been to this rooftop for few years after Picnic was gone. Good that this spot is back. set lunch menu Amazing weather. Good vibe. Burrata, cherry tomatoes Fresh! Burrata is creamy. Up to standard. Rainbow Trout Cured and lightly smoked, blinis and horseradish cream This dish surprises us! The trout is beautifully smoked. The thick blinis is crispy outside and soft, warm inside. Great match! Australian Wagyu beef tartare Good seasoning! Above average. Brittany wild sea bream, buerre blanc Quite a big cut. Personally prefer if there’s crispy skin intact. Sauce is delicious. Morisseau Mont Saint Michel mussels mariniere (front) Grilled Spanish Octopus, virgin sauce (back) Very generous amount of mussels! Very fresh and size are good! Classic sauce with cream, white wine, garlic and parsley. Can never go wrong. The octopus is really tender. Quite refreshing to go with the salsa. For side, the mashed potato is creamy and smooth. My favourite side dish! Fries with good seasoning and crunchy. Crème brûlée, vanila ice cream Pretty nice dessert. But wishing the top can be crispy. Love the fresh vanilla bean in the crème brûlée. Hazelnut Parline Choux Wow! Not 1, not 2 but 3?! Didn’t expect that at all. These choux are nicely done! Dipped in the hazelnut sauce and ate like a mini burger Chocolate, salted caramel and candied nut tart Those chocolate tart is just indulgent. Chocolate lovers must love this. Very rich mousse together with the nuts in top. Heaven! We ordered Xavier Cheese platter as well. Quite nice they serving 5 cheese. It’s definitely a great spot for drinks and casual lunch. With the food serving by Ecriture kitchen, it’s a really good deal. Staffs are friendly but some of them are very green. But I guess everyone will be pretty chilled in this atmosphere so it’s not a big problem at all

When I am doing this review, I am still sitting in this ramen restaurant. Can’t help it to express how bad my dining experience is. There are way too many good reviews of this ramen restaurant. I was shocked when I finally tried their food. It’s Saturday night today, 19:45. It’s half empty on a Saturday night. Both side counter table is empty. And the restaurant is super quiet. Super weird. Maybe it’s because they don’t have a background music or something? I don’t know…. Just feel super awkward. I ordered the oyster ramen. This one is really a NO NO! The oyster flavour didn’t pop out from the broth at all. It’s really light. I didn’t expect that. And the noodles is too soft. No texture at all! Oyster itself is good. Seasoning well. Compare the oyster ramen in Next Shikaku, this is really really fair. You know the warm feeling and excitement you got when you have a great ramen, I cannot find it in this bowl. Ordered two snacks. This cuttlefish paste inside the chicken skin is pretty good. Chicken skin is super crispy. Then I waited for my tofu for another 10 minutes after I finished my ramen and cuttlefish. Finally it came after another 5 minutes. Unacceptable! Tofu is ok. Dressing is miso and quite strong. Tofu itself no seasoning at all. For the service, it’s really poor. 2 times I needed to ask them to refill my water after my glass is empty for 5 minutes. There are 3 floor staffs but seem like only the lady is working. Guys are either chit chatting, or playing with their phones. Overall, it’s a pretty bad dining experience. Definitely not coming back.

Flights finally start resuming in HKG. Making this lunch at L’Envol more meaningful before my work flight to Taipei on the next day. Really tempted to take their 6 courses/ 8 courses tasting menu but it’d be too much for lunch. At the end I took a 5 courses lunch menu. Wine pairing is handled by Senior Sommelier Louis Nogaret. Put my 100% trust on him on that and of course he never disappoints me. Serving sour dough in individual bread basket with two choices of butter. Caviar on the left and champagne on the right. Personally i feel the caviar one is too salty. Definitely prefer the champagne one. Amuse Bouche Very delightful bites to start. And Louis chose Egly Ouriet champagne for us to start. It’s one of my favourite champagne! Great choice! Brittany razor clams “A la Mariniière” with Caviar So elegant! A dish fulls of flavour of the sea. French “cèpes” consumme - duck ravioli, watercress Hot starter I have this duck ravioli in a bath of rich mushrooms consumme. Earthy from the broth goes really well with the duck in the ravioli. Catch of the day. Fish is perfectly cooked. Celtuse on top gives a light, fresh, crunchy texture. Love the white truffle on top and in the dressing. My favourite dish of the day! Limousin Veau tenderloin charcoal grilled Medium rare veau. Right temperature. Really tender. The purée is made of Jerusalem artichoke. And also some fresh artichoke on top. Le Chocolat noir de St. Martin Made of 75% dark chocolate. I was so full to finish the whole thing. Chocolate lover will definitely love to have these to finish an amazing lunch. Petit four selection Really colourful and look indulgent. Thanks for the generous amount of petit four. Our wine pairing Love all the choices. The last Bordeaux is my favourite. It’s a great dining experience at L’Envol. Everyone is so professional. Love chef Oliver approached everyone and we really appreciate it.

Finally had my first visit to Lung King Heen. Sometimes I just crave for some good Chinese. We ordered quite a lot for 2 person. For starters, we had deep fried tofu and deep fried taro. Deep fried taro is amazing! The best I have had! The batter is thin but really crispy. Deep fried tofu is average. Not hot and crispy enough. For main, we had three meat dishes as my friend is allergic to seafood. We had beef tenderloin in black pepper sauce, half soy sauce chicken and a whole peking duck. Yes! A whole duck! Beef is up to standard. Soy sauce chicken is surprisingly good! Almost as good as my favourite one in Forum. And here’s our whole duck! Crispy skin. But i do think it’s a bit dry. They also serve us the minced duck with cabbage. And we also have fried rice. It’s just too much food. Can’t believe I have chance to have this famous Swiss Pinot Noir again! Staffs are all very friendly. Thanks sommelier Bernard to introduce us some special wine. Heard their dim sum is good! Will try next time!

I am always craving food in Forum once in a while! Happy to gather few friends to have a (super) long lunch at the one and only one, Forum. Warm welcome by lovely staffs always! Wine is ready! Menu is ready! Let’s start! Porcini dumpling, beef ball, shrimp dumpling Love the dim sum here. The har gow is full of shrimp and the wrap is thin. Love the texture of the beef ball! Soft, but bouncy! Unlike tough beef ball you have in other restaurants. Pig stomach siu Mai Very traditional dim sum! Feel like a little kid again! And here’s my all time favourite, Bitter melon coat with salty egg yolk. I order this every time. I won’t leave before having it! Fresh made rice rolls with dried sakura shrimps. This brings us back so much memories from our childhood. Can’t remember how many rice rolls i had for lunch when i was a teenager. So cute they serve the rice rolls over a metal plate. Just like the old time. Add as much as dressing you like. Sesame sauce and sesame is my favourite. The sakura shrimp elevates this simple dish. Surprise!!!! Didn’t expect we would have goose feet, abalone and sea cucumber this time! Best abalone sauce ever! “tong sum” inside. This is skill! Grouper two ways. Sautéed and steamed with black bean sauce. Love the steamed one. So many collagen! Ah Yat fried rice. Each rice covers with egg. Tasty as usual! We also had their signature dish like sweet and sour pork with dried marinated peel. And the best soya sauce chicken in town. Some classic chinese desserts. And and and! the seasonal ice cream in cone!!! 7 bottles, 4 people. Great food! Great wine! Great company! Great time!
