It has been a while since I met up with buddy G, so when she suggested this newly opened vietnamese restaurant, I was all game. Environment & Hygiene:
The size of the restaurant was bigger than what I had in mind. The restaurant was modern looking with a sense of simplicity. It worked for me.  Colourful plates and different sauces are placed on the table for you to use. Hygiene was okay.Service:
The staff were mainly attentive. Although it took them a while to fill up my water glass, it was understandable because we were sitting by the wall, and the table next to us was not smart enough to move their chairs forward a little just so the servers could reach us. At last, the server had to ask them to move a little. 

Taste & Value:
What we got:
1. Beef Bun Before the appetizers, my noodles had come. Ha. The presentation was not too attractive I have to admit. This was different from ones I have had before because it had pineapples infused in it, making it quite wet without even adding the sauce. Despite the ugly appearance and tough beef, this dish had nice flavours and was quite good . I would recommend a non beef option. 2. Softshell Crab Paper Rolls I was really looking forward to this dish. The softshell crab was flavourless and didn't taste too fresh. It was a disappointing dish. 3. Squid Cakes After having the softshell crab appetizer, I had no hope for this appetizer, but it proved me wrong because it tasted amazing. I could taste the freshness of the ingredients and oriental spices. 4. Beef Pho This was my friend's choice. The soup was very good.  It was fresh, flavourful in a natural way. The beef too was also good; it was way better than my beef.  Final Verdict:
It is worth visiting. I would go again.

The wall was an interesting design. It looked to me as if they used numerous pieces of napkins to put it together.  The design was modern looking, and was for sure a place for young people to hang out. For some reason, the place felt very Taiwanese.Service:
Although there was no service charge, the service was okay. Taste & Value:
Caramel Macchiato ($40) I heard this is one of their must try drinks because they actually homemake their caramel sauce. The sauce really did tasted like it was homemade as it didn't have that artifical sweet taste; it was pretty good.  Underneath the drizzled caramel sauce was the very fine and smooth milkfoam!  I really wasn't expecting such nicely done milkfoam for such a drink.  The coffee itself was just okay, but I was impressed by the craftsmanship involved. Hazelnut Mousse Cake with Creme Brulee ($38) This dessert had a very fancy name that I can't remember at all.  Anyways, the outer layer of this cake was a smooth mousse, and the interior was also a very smooth creme brulee. This dessert was okay. The outer layer didn't have much taste though, the taste came from the creme brulee and the hazelnut sponge bottom. Final Verdict:
The next time I go, I would like to try their pasta. 

I really like going to Macau for the food. Although it is a small place, there is good food that you can't find in Hong Kong around every corner. Portuguese food for example is so rare in HK.  I heard A Petisqueira is always busy, but my buddy and I arrived kinda late for lunch, at about 1400, so we had no problem getting in. 

Environment & Hygiene:
The decor was kinda outdated and random; fake fruit hanging everywhere, animal head on the wall, red & white checked table clothes, what a classic! Ha. It was a homestyle restaurant I should say.  Hygiene was okay. Service:
The servers were nice and friendly. They recommended some of their popular dishes to us. Taste & Value:
After ordering, some bread was brought to us. It was warm, and soft to the touch. Also, it was not a small portion for something that was free. Next up was our Codfish Cakes ($40). This dish was surprisinly good. I find that cod balls are either tasteless or too salty, but these were just right! The fish gave it the saltiness it needed, and the mushy mashed potatoes gave it a nice smooth texture. An order had 3 of these delicious little cakes. Last but not least, was our Spanish Paella ($14X). The Spanish paella and Portuguese paella were both one of their popular dishes, but we chose the Spanish one because the rice wouldn't be as wet as the Portuguese paella. This delicious paella was served in a steaming hot wok, with a decent amount of seafood in it.  The rice was seasoned perfectly and was very flavourful. Did all of the yellow colouring come from saffron? or did they add in some tumeric powder, since whatever spice it was made our tongues slightly numb towards the end. Anyhow, this was a very good tasting paella! Final Verdict:
Both of us really liked the food, and were glad that we visited! It is definitely worth visiting.  Also, we left with a full stomach and it only cost us each about $100. 

I have been wanting to check out Sunday's Grocery since my sister told me about it!   This afternoon, I picked up a sandwich before heading to work.   While waiting for my sandwich, I was told that Sunday's grocery is Yardbird's third project after Ronin.  Also, whisky is their thing if you care for alcohol. 

Environment & Hygiene:
I love the set up and tones of colours of this place. There is a selection of alcohol on the right, and some other goods on the left beside the huge menu, which I totally missed and foolishly asked if they had a menu.   Opps.. Ha. Service:
The staff were friendly, and I was handed this pamphlet while wondering where the menu was. Taste & Value:
I decided on the Chicken Schnitzel sandwich ($80). This sandwich had pickles and veggies in it. The ingredients were very fresh, and I loved how the bread was so warm and soft. The pickles made the sandwich interesting, but a little salty. The chicken was juicy and not greasy at all.  I don't want to say this, but the first bite reminded me of McDonald's Chicken Burger!   Of course, this was made with better ingredients and was 10 times more fresh and tastier. Final Verdict:
The sandwich was good, but quite expensive? I would go again though, I want to try their other sandwiches. The little knick knacks they have are so cute. 

The last time I visited Coffee Alley, I was in Causeway Bay, and waited for about 90 mins. This time at TST, the wait was about 45 minutes. 

Environment & Hygiene:
Like the first time, Buddy M and I sat at the door, so again we didn't really get to see what the place actually looks like, but overall the ambienece was nice and relaxing. Hygiene was okay, but the staff were eating on and off, which I think is a little not professional. 

Service:
The staff were very helpful and friendly. 

Taste & Value:
Let me start with what I got. I already knew what I wanted this time, which was the Club Sandwich!  The chicken stood out to me as it was marinated and cooked the taiwanese way. I appreciated this taiwanese touch to the sandwich. Overall, the sandwich tasted pretty good, but it was a little dry since they skimped on the fillings inside. However, they were generous with the amount of doritos that they gave. Haha.  The salad on the side was quite good too; creamy and tasty. Since I already had coffee twice that day, I forced myself to get a non coffee drink.  People say good things about the Matcha latte, so I went for that. It is considerate to serve the drink with a cute little whisk since the matcha always sinks to the bottom. The drink was good and strong, but too sweet. Now, to what buddy M got. Since buddy M got the ham & cheese croissant last time, I persuaded her to try something new;  leading to the Beef sandwich. This sandwich also came with a salad. Mine was a sandwich, and hers was a sandwich, but why was hers so packed whereas I had more bread than anything in mine!? She had beef falling out left and right. Oh well, I tried hers, and thought that it was okay. I would have prefered a thinner slice of beef over its thickly cut beef.  Buddy M got the fruit tea. I had originally wanted to get that, but changed my mind after seeing the price.  I was content trying a sip of hers. Ha! The drink was very fruity and not overly sweet. Since it is so refreshing to have, it makes a perfect drink for summer. Final Verdict:
I have to admit I think I like the sandwiches more than their sweet dishes. Would I go again for the third time? I probably would eventually.....

After wandering around on such a hot day, my buddy and I sat down and grabbed something to eat for a rest. 

Environment & Hygiene:
Since there was just one man working, we arrived in this little shack with numerous dirty bowls on the tables waiting to be collected. Oh well, you can't blame the man. He did eventually clean them up once we sat down.  I hate cats, so I wasn't impressed to see one hanging out there. I truely think that animals shouldn't be allowed to be around any places that serve food for sanitary reasons. It is just not hygienicService:
You pay then the food is brought to you, so there really isn't much to comment on. 

Taste and Value:
Both my friend and I got the Black sesame dessert with Tofu (cold).  The black sesame part was good, because it was not too sweet. The tofu part was okay, but wasn't silky enough. Final Verdict:

My buddies and I had such a huge lunch that we couldn't think of what to eat for dinner, then one sugguested Wing Kee.

Environment & Hygiene:
Nothing much is needed to be said. It was your typical noodles place in HK in terms of environment and hygiene. Service:
Interesting. My friend had bought something and was showing us, and the nosey staff came over to have a loook and asked us what it was. Ha!

Taste & Value:
Lots of the items were sold out, but since it was like 2130, it was to be expected.  I chose fish slices and squid as my 2 items ($36). Wing Kee is known for its broth, and it sure did live up to its reputation as it was indeed very rich and flavourful!  It was good. The squid too was also good, and very fresh. The fish slices were okay; nothing special. The noodles though were soso. They were way too soft to my liking. Final Verdict:
So...I finally tried this place. It was okay, but quite expensive for such a small bowl of noodles.

Xiao Long Bao in all sorts of colours!? How could I not come visit!

Environment & Hygiene:
The restaurant had an interesting layout, with water in the centre. Each table was spacious and open, while still having privacy. The staff wore clothes that mimicked the olden times, but it just didn't work. The clothes were too loose and baggy or something; it was odd. Hygiene was okay. Taste & Value:
Ordering their signature 8 coloured Xiao Long Bao and taking a picture of it then sharing it on social media gets you a free order of Durian Xiao Long Bao! Woo Hoo!This is what we ordered and I'm writing in accordance to the sequence the food arrived in, which was in an order that made no sense. 1. 8 Coloured Xiao Long Bao According to the menu, you're supposed to eat the different colours following a special sequence, but the 4 of us shared it, so we each only got 2 and followed no sequence.  We all really liked them. The outer layer was thin, and the interior was juicy and tasted exactly what they were; for example the ginseng really did have a strong ginseng flavour. 2. Fried Pork Buns (3) These were quite tasty as well. Nicely fried. 3. Durian Xiao Long Bao We were asked if we wanted this to come last, so we said yes, but it arrived shortly after they asked,so we got our dessert half way through the meal. I wonder why they even bothered to ask. Oh well, we all liked this dish as the durian filling was very creamy and delicious. Quite a unique dish I must say. I would recommend this if you're looking for something different. 4. Moo Shu Fried Noodles These noodles were very tasty. All the ingredients were cut roughly into the same size and length, which made it convenient to eat.  5. Yangzhou Fried Rice The rice that came after we paid, but we ate it anyways. Ha. It tasted good, but omg, was it ever salty. Get it if you like MSG.Service:
The service was okay at first, but after waiting for at least 30 minutes for our fried rice and fried noodles, we approached 3 different staff to check on the 2 dishes, and no one cared to tell us if the food was coming or not. Luckily, shortly after approaching the 2nd staff, the noodles arrived. However, we were still waiting for the fried rice, which was why we approached the 3rd staff and eventually the manager who checked it and informed us that they had forgotten about the rice and that he would waive it for us. Ha, after all the waiting. None of the staff were apologetic in any way, which pissed us off. Right when we were about to leave after paying the bill, the fried rice arrived......and the manager told us that whether we wanted it or not, he would leave it on the table for us. I don't think that customers should be talked to in such a way.

Final Verdict:
I did enjoy the food, but the service and waiting time was ridiculous. Maybe it happened because the restaurant is rather new. 

I wanted to surprise cousin J with a cake from a place that she had never tried before, so I had to go far away to Yuen Long. Ha!  After over an hour of transportation, I arrived at Karl'z Cake Design. There were different individual cakes neatly displayed in the fridge, and all looked so delicious. Service:
From the phone call to the pick up, the staff showed their friendliness. 

Taste & Value: 
Cousin J likes cheesecakes and lemon tarts, so I got her this Lemon Cheesecake, which was a perfect combination of what she likes. In terms of looks, this cake was beautiful. However, in terms of taste and texture, it was less attractive. The texture was very crumbly and was hard to keep on a fork/spoon. Then, the taste was odd. I have never been too fond of lemony stuff and cheesecakes, and this cake didn't make me like these flavours anymore. Final Verdict:
I could have got a better tasting cake elsewhere, with less travelling time involved. It would have been worth it if the cake was good, but ...... you know, so I probably wouldn't go again. 

Cousin J wanted Japanese food for her birthday, so The Mon was suggested.  Environment & Hygiene:
The place was spacious, and we got a table in the corner, which gave us a lot of privacy.  The dimmed lighting created a laid back ambience. I liked the vintage beer posters they had hanging at the door. Service:
The staff were always around to help us. Also, cousin T had bought a cake, and they took care of that for us. 

Food & Value:
There was so much that we wanted to have, so we each chose a few different dishes.  How can a Japanese restaurant charge for tea.  There were 4 different types to choose from and, all priced at $30 a pot. We chose Rice Tea. Frozen Beer ($50) This was my first time having frozen beer, and I thought it was interesting. The frozen top had a light taste of beer. It was like having an iced chocolate with chocolate ice cream on top.  Haha. Toyo Roll DELICIOUS! Fresh avocado and eel wrapped in a warm crepe was absolutely delicious! It was our favourite of the night! MUST GET! This alone is enough to get me to visit again! Omelette with Crab  The egg had a smooth and soft texture, but it honestly didn't have much taste. My sister said it tasted better with the radish on the side.The crab tasted fresh, but it also came with shells. Ha. It was okay; nothing special. The Mon Salad This is one of their recommended dishes. Although the dressing was very nice, there was basically nothing to this salad, as there was nothing but leaves and seaweed.   I would recommend it for the taste, but not the value. White Fish Sashimi This was okay. The sashimi was thinly sliced, and the vinegary dipping sauce on the side complimented it well. Grilled Eggplants Good! The eggplants were soft, moist, and tasty!  Grilled Corn and Ox Tongue I didn't try these 2, but my 2 cousins said both were good.  Grilled Chicken Wings Cooked just right, with the meat still very juicy and tender, but over seasoned as it was very salty. Chicken Karaage The chicken was juicy and flavourful, but there was also more skin and batter than meat we thought. Scallop Pancake ($65)This was a soso dish. The scallops were tough and scarce, and the batter was tasteless and thick. It had a chicken sauce like dipping sauce, which was a weird choice we thought. I wouldn't recommend this.  Tuna Belly Roll ($180) This was a little disappointing. It looked so tasty, but no flavours were strong enough to stand out. We felt like we were just eating a Japanese rice ball. Final Verdict:
The toyo roll was outstanding, and we had a great time. Would go again.
