This a a typical, simple (relatively clean) Hong Kong eatery. As they name suggests the specialty is dumplings and there are about 15 on the menu - all apparently freshly home made - you can watch them making the dumplings. We tried classic pork and cabbage and the special of the day which contained more vegetables - both boiled (all dumplings can be ordered booked or fried). I was very happy with both, juicy and flavorful, some if the best I had in HK so far. The menu has quite a lot more than just dumplings, so we also tried the cold noodles with spicy chicken, which was very peanut-creamy and delicious in a Nothern Chinese way. The sour and spicy soup was good, but not extraordinary. The only disappointment was the stuffed pancake (we took the mushroom variety), which was very oily and too chewy. Service was fast and the prices are low.

This is a very straightforward restaurant - they mainly serve dumplings; boiled and fried in about 10 varieties. The setting is very simple: about five small tables and while you are sitting you can watch the staff making dumplings - so you can be sure they are fresh and home made. We tried a serving (10 pieces) of boiled beef and a serving a fried pork dumplings. Both where very good - good quality meat, high share if vegetables in the stuffing, good size. The boiled ones to the point, the fried ones crispy, but not to oily. Also tried the sour and spicy soup - quite sweet, but otherwise good taste. Seems they added tomato which adds a nice depth. A serving of dumings is about 50 HKD, which is obviously not cheap, but ok given size and quality (and the location of the restaurant)

This small, simple eatery serves mainly Shanghai food, but also has some Sichuan options. Menue is quite extensive. Food arrived within a few minutes: My favorites were the "lion head" meat balls with brown sauce and lots if vegetables - perfect texture and good tast. Fried rice with ribs was not really fried, which made it light, but a bit bland - ribs were good. Dandan noodles had more peanut than spice, but I guess that's what you expect in a Shanghai restaurant; noodles where thin and chewy - almost HK style, but the taste of the dish was very satisfying. Rice noodles with shredded chicken and peanut sauce came in a large portion and couhd have used more cucumber, but otherwise a great dish - texture of the rice noodles was perfect and the peanut sauce rich and creamy. Overall a good experience - I especially liked that the food is less oily than in many similar restaurant. Prices are quite reasonable.

I like ramen Jo on causeway bay - one if the few places in HK where you get ramen that comes close to the quality in Japan. So I was happy so see a new branch in elements. Apparently a lot of other people thought the same as there was a bit of a queue at about 2 pm. The first disappointment came when I looked at the menue - the choice of soups is much smaller then in the causeway branch (it's basically just one) - no miso ramen, no mountain ramen - so in order to blow up the menue they list a lot of combinations of toppigs as dish (although you can order them separately anyway). So I went with one of the standard ramen and had disappointment number two: soup was very salty and lacking the depth and richness that ramen should have, the texture of the noodles was too soft (other than in causeway bay you are not dame how hard you like them). Not terrible ramen, but very average and therefore quite expensive for the quality. Also tried the gyoza, which where ok, but again nothing special. On top of that the service was unattentive and slow.

This restaurant recently more to this bigger location (it's still a relatively small restaurant). Setting is a bit rustic, but nice, staff is very friendly. This restaurant serves Shanxi food, which to my knowledge is not very common in Hong Kong. Their specialty are Biangbiang noodles (Biang is the insanely complicated Chinese character in the restaurants logo), one serving is basically one very long flat noodle and is servers with a very aromatic, balanced and spicy sauce and your choice of topping (the rib is very nice), some versions have dumplings as well, with is nice. Another specialty is the meat sandwich (sometimes called the sangxi hamburger), a small flatbread filled with chopped up meat - a succulent, fatty treat. I tried some of their cold dishes which where all good - in particular enjoyed the tofu sheets with cellery. Prices are very reasonable given the quality. 推介美食: Biangbiang noodle
