I’ve never been to a Korean BBQ restaurant and had a bad meal until I tried Sorabol in TST. This is supposed to be a high end Korean bbq restaurant but the quality of the food and service is similar to the cheaper mid range Korean bbq restaurants. The side dishes were normal nothing special, we ordered Korean pork belly, USDA short rib, USDA marinated short rib and an OX tail soup rice dish. The pork belly and the USDA short rib were ok, the marinated USDA short rib was bland as though it had not been marinated. The ox tail rice soup had no taste and was like congee rice in water. The service was mediocre, can’t even under English and the seating was uncomfortable. There is nothing special about this restaurant apart from the higher prices which isn’t worth the value, I won’t return back here. 評分: 味道 2 環境 3 服務 2 衛生 3 抵食 2

Woodlands has been in HK many years and this is the first time to try after our usual Indian vegetarian restaurant closed down. The menu is very extensive, but we ordered the signature dishes being the Paper Masala Dosa and the Woodlands Special Thali with Chapati together with mango lassi’s to wash it all down! The Paper Masala Dosa arrived first, and boy it’s the biggest dosa I’ve ever seen, it’s gigantic. In the middle of the dosa there is a spiced potato mix. The dosa was super crispy and tasty and I just couldn’t stop eating it - Wow 🤩! The Woodlands Special Thali with chapati 🫓 was massive, it was a mini buffet on a plate and had every type of dish to tickle your taste buds! It contained 8 dishes which were channa masala, Vegetable Kurma, Dal, 3 Daily special curries, Raita, Pickle, Papad and vegetable biriyani. It was simplify amazing and very filling. The mango lassi’s were ok, not too sweet but a bit small. The service was great, the environment is a bit crammed and outdated, but you come here for the food at super cheap prices! 推介美食: Woodlands Thali Special with Chapati, Paper Masala Dosa, Mango Lassi, Paper Masala Dosa, Woodlands Special Thali 招牌特色套餐

I had the afternoon off from work and wanted go to the Sky Lounge for afternoon tea. It’s my second time here. I reckon the view here is the most spectacular of all the afternoon tea locations in HK as you are so close to Victoria Harbour. I love the afternoon tea sets here as they contain more savory dishes than sweet dishes. I like the savory dishes more. On this occasion there was a Japanese style tea set. The best savory dishes being the fried Hiroshima Oyster 🦪, the outside had a lovely hot crispy batter and the inside was juicy and fresh with brine. The egg and Pork Katsu sandwiches were soft and the fillings cooked perfectly that they were still moist and not dry. The most interesting dish was the Foie Gras crème brûlée, it was silky and creamy with a lovely combination of foie gras. The deserts are not sweet at all and that’s what I like most about the tea set here, even the macaroon was very lite on sugar and still delicious. The best deserts were the chestnut and chocolate cream puff, the mini milk roll and the melon panna cotta. Great Japanese/ western fusion combinations. We came here in a weekday with no booking and were able to get a window seat as there wasn’t much people. There were a lack of serving staff so we had to wait longer to be attended to. We love the place as it is the nostalgia of the Sheraton Hotel back in the eighties and we would come back again. 推介美食: Afternoon Tea Set

Last time we brought Dough Bros all the way from Kennedy Town back to YMT, this time we tried it from Wan Chai to YMT. We ordered the Carbonara and the Works. This time when they got onto our dining room table they were much hotter. The Carbonara has carbonara sauce as it’s base with mozzarella, pancetta and egg yolk. The sauce is creamy and silky smooth due to the egg. The pancetta adds a nice smokey bacon flavor. Adding the garlic or truffle mayonnaise on top changes the taste profile and its like you are having 3 different types of pizzas. The Works has tomato 🍅, chorizo sausage, mozzarella, pepperoni, pork meat balls, jalapeños and pickled chilies 🌶. Wow this pizza has got all the meat you want along with the spice, adding the sauces you can actually take the kick out of the spice. The base and crust of the pizzas are soft and chewy and are probably about the best pizzas you can buy in HK. Plus very convenient for takeaway as they are small enough. 推介美食: Carbonara, The Works

This is probably my favorite Japanese restaurant in HK, the seafood is fresh, the service is great, the food is delicious and it is good value for money. I have been here no less than 7 to 8 times, but this is the first time I’ve reviewed it in Open Rice! We came here for dinner on a Saturday night and ordered some cold sake from their extensive sake menu. The serving staff helped us pour it into our glasses throughout the night. The sake was sweet with a nice kick to it and being chilled was exactly what was needed on a hot summers night! We started of with the mixed tempura platter, which comes with 3 tempura prawns, mushroom, okra, egg plant and pumpkin. It is perfectly fried in a light batter and more importantly at the correct temperature as it isn’t oily. The tempura dipping sauce goes perfectly with the fried tempura giving everything acidity. Next the grilled skewers we ordered arrived on one plate, we ordered a beef tenderloin, an ox tongue and minced chicken x 3. The beef and ox tongue were ok, but not as tender as I expected. The best skewers were the minced chicken skewers, the meat is smooth and seasoned well, and when dipped in the egg yolk it is gives the meat a creamy and silky texture. The grilled scallops arrived next, they are grilled on top of their shells in a seafood broth with garlic which makes them tender, juicy and sweet. Although when in season the scallops are much larger. Next came the first of the 6 lots of seared salmon sushi, we like our salmon grilled due to the potential bacteria it can carry. The salmon is so delicately grilled keeping it moist and still fresh. We also ordered the fish liver sushi which was similar to eating foie gras. We ordered sashimi cut from a fresh whole Red Snapper! It was $525 for quarter of the fish and we got 12 beautifully cut slices. The fish flesh was very fresh, sweet and smooth and melted in our mouths. Next came a Wagyu Fried Rice, it was essentially a bowl of fried rice with chunks of wagyu beef. The beef was extremely tender but the fried rice was slightly under seasoned, I thought it needed more salt or soy sauce and maybe garlic 🧄 Finally, we couldn’t resist and ordered one last grilled skewer dish and chose the Tiger Prawn 🦐. It is grilled with the shell on and most of the seasoning is on the outside of the shell that you need to peel away. The prawn was a reasonable size, but slightly overcooked and dry. Overall, great food, good value for money, relaxed chilled environment, comfortable seating (booth seating) and great service. See you next time Nagasakayaki Restaurant! 推介美食: Cold Sake, Mixed Tempura, Grilled meat skewers, Grilled scallops, Grilled Salmon Sushi & Fisjh Liver Sushi, Red Snapper Sashimi, Wagyu Fried Rice, Grilled Tiger Prawn
