今日lunch 點左羊肉飯,一個字yummy!羊肉唔'so'唔多肥肉,咬感不錯, 啱哂我口味另外佢夠多不同的醬料 ,令羊肉的味道有唔同的層次😊甜品完全out of expectation , 好精緻,細細件唔太甜D cream配埋落 D紅莓 sauce好正性價比高的午餐, 好滿意!!

We had dinner there few years ago for our friend's birthday dinner. we both remembered it as a very nice meal. tonight we went there again.

When we got there at 8pm on a Thursday night, it was quite quiet. There were only 3 other table chatting and eating.

we had a look of the dinner menu, it reminded me of the birthday dinner we attended here. my husband kept saying, the set menu might be bad! But the one we had last time was really good in few years ago. So we gave it a try....... which we probably shouldnt have...

When they served the escargot in a bowl, it was sso diappointing. Last time i had the set here, the escargots were nicely servced on a  escargot plate with mashed potatos and shells. Apart from the presentation, the food was salty. I couldn't finish it. 

For the crab meat salad, it was even more ridiculous. it has no crab meat AT ALL. It was full of sweet corn with mayonnaise dressing. How can one possibly call it a crab meat salad where there is no crab meat in it!

For the Soup, i ordered the cream mushroom soup and my husband had the soup of the day which was seafood chower. 

My mushroom soup... again. it was very very salty and watery. After drinking a few spoon of it, i stopped. i started to feel very thristy. The seafood chowder was tasteless and watery.

My main i ordered the rib eye steak with goose liver. 

Just by looking at the steak, you know it would never be good. It's like the cheap steak you get in local cha chaan teng. The goose liver was over cooked, nearly well done.

說說菜式吧。前菜是香煎鵝肝。食量不大的兩人分享,剛好一人一片。鵝肝煎得剛熟(我覺得可以略生一點),入口溶化,但帶一點點筋。黑醋汁濃淡適宜,整體香濃而不膩。

好友點了法式鴨腿,我當然不會放過。鴨腿皮煎得又香又脆,沒半點油,超好吃。鴨肉咸香,仍有咬口,而我略嫌不夠腍軟。

我點的主菜是當天的special之一:牛面肉。燉煮的功夫很到家,肉質全熟,綿軟,切開之後,可以看到肉之中的筋已經煮成半啫喱狀,牛肉味在慢慢咀嚼之中在口腔滿盈。吃了這麼好一大塊,沒有感到吃累了--我是只吃得下350g牛扒的類型。此外,也要欣賞兩個主菜的配菜的心思。煎封的鴨腿配的是烤薯,燉煮的牛面肉,配的是白烚薯,這些細節沒有馬虎。
甜品是焦糖布甸,布甸軟滑有蛋香,不太甜,連著脆脆的焦糖一起在口中咀嚼,爆發的是滿足感。
整體的點評,從性價比著眼,La Fluer是信心之選。可是由於自己試過一些其他法菜小店,就覺得想追求更高性價比--簡單說就是更抵食,就有其他可以冒險去闖一闖的選擇,當然,結果可能是不幸。

 Cheese platter - nice mix of 4 kinds of cheese which were not very strong in taste.  They went well with the wines.

 Foie Gras - the portion is very decent as they offered 2 pieces for an order.  The taste was also fine but just not happy that it's not juicy centre.

 escargot with mashed potato - the way they prepared it was different from other restaurants.  If you recall, the restaurant used to put the escargot in the shell and bake it with the escargot ceremic plate.  Here, they just baked the mashed potato with the escargot together which I found the taste to be more intensed and the mashed potato was crispy like chips...very nice!

 Duck confit - that's the dish which required the longest time to prepare, well, I am just talking about 20 mins.  Surprisingly, this was the highlight of the night, the duck was so tender with crispy skin; not greasy at all and we just finished it in couple minutes.

 Med-rare Angus steak - for a $300 angus steak like this, I have no complaint in any sense.  The chef has done a great job and came out with a medium rare steak, tender...juicy and we were very satisfied.

題外話/補充資料: The owner was very nice to waive the corkage of the 2 wines we brought with one criterion that we ordered enough food (with a joking smirk).

今天的SOUP OF THE DAY 是磨菇湯, 猶疑片刻在想要鵝肝醬配餐包還是暖一下胃好, 終究還是選了磨菇湯; 味道濃郁, 而且每一口湯你都能吃得出被磨碎的磨菇, 不單味道好, 而且很有口感!

話說, 看著旁邊的顧客在吃三文魚扒, 蘿拔仔真係十五十六, 因為塊扒係大大塊又厚身既三文魚腩, 同牛扒真係有得揮。當然最後蘿拔仔都係揀左肉眼扒, 結果都唔失望呀!

蘿拔仔叫的是MEDIUM RARE, 對同事來說血淋淋的(也沒有啊…就切開有點血水是正常鮮美的好不好), 雖然表面也有點粉嫩的紅色, 但肉汁著實不錯, 而且入口滑嫩, 個人是不喜配芥辣的, 總覺得會蓋過肉味, 不過這肉眼扒感覺肉味不夠濃, 配點芥辣吃反倒不錯。

底下的薯波煎的香脆, 蘿拔仔是很喜歡, 一口一口的很快就解決了。

不過, 正當下完單之際, 同事竟然說出想吃生蠔, 好! 那就來吧! 間唔中都應該補償下自己, 老闆就推介了一甜一咸的French Fillardeau 同 Irish Rock oyster。蠔很大很肥美,  不過蘿拔仔偏愛咸味的, 雖然較細小但味道是一絕啊! 午餐吃這樣感覺還真不錯呢!

2. Wine: First their wine list is French but very wide and extraordinarily cheap given the vintages they offer of Bordeaux and Burgundy reds. You can also bring along your own bottle for which you may be charged a small corkage fee. So if you want to learn about French wine at reasonable prices and where the wine is of an age at which it should be drunk go to La Fleur.

3. The chef: If you have enjoyed the meal and you thank the chef you will get in return the 'best' and broadest smile in Hong Kong.

La Fleur situated in a dark alley which is not super easy to find. The restaurant looks like old Chinese western restaurant. However the food is very surprising!(sorry for the blurry picture)This salad is very very special, I love the texture of the veg, it’s crunchy and fresh! The cheese dressing also matches so well with the sweet figs.The spring chicken is perfectly cooked and very tender. This salad is very very special, I love the texture of the veg, it’s crunchy and fresh! The cheese dressing also matches so well with the sweet figs.
The spring chicken is perfectly cooked and very tender. I just think this is ordinary compared to the other food we tasted here.
The slow cooked veal cheek is awesome! It is so tender that it almost melts in my mouth! The beef scent is also very strong and making this dish so addictive. I would say this is a must try here.
Although la Fleur is not in the best location, the food here is hotel standard! This is truly a surprising restaurant in the hood.

有別於以往情人佳節,今年沒有預先訂枱用餐,決定隨意閒逛,隨心尋找地方用膳。當然,大時大節,要找到合適地方也不容易,碰釘撞板少不免,經過一輪尋訪,最後到達店址相對較僻靜的La Fleur用餐。La Fleur提供法式西菜,環境一般喇!或許是walk-in客的關係,被分配到門口雪櫃旁的桌子。桌子雖鋪上桌布,但桌布上放上一張白餐紙,格調頓時下降了少許。加上開放式廚房,少許油煙亦少不免。情人節當晚只有一款套餐供應,基本上坐下後都不用點菜,乖乖等候便行。先來麵包前菜,奉上的是普通法包,外皮脆口,沒有乾硬的問題,包心味道亦合預期。上包時沒有主動提供牛油香醋等佐料,感覺總是欠缺了一點,可考慮主動提供。冷盤French duck terrine,由鴨肉鴨肝製成,吃下味道有點似午餐肉,但感覺較滑身及細緻。鴨肝部份吃的是那份幼滑留香韻味,成品都算交到功課。Iberico ham and fresh figs salad是另一冷盤,薄薄的西斑牙火腿下,放上嫩綠的法國冰菜,再灑上麻香醬汁。西斑牙火腿鹹香味道結實,法國冰菜更甚有驚喜,口感爽脆,又不會帶有草青味道,很好吃。點點麻醬,為清淡沙津給予點睛之效,香口得

熱盤時間,先吃Panfried gooseliver with balsamic sauce。鵝肝外層煎香脆口,內心柔滑,肝香濃郁,選料製法皆不俗。吃過鵝肝,以小小一片水蜜桃調整味蕾,配搭亦不錯。

Baked escargots mixed herbs是一款焗製小吃,最宜冬天食用。熱呼呼的焗薯蓉,混入少許香草調味,內裡夾雜為數不少的田螺。薯蓉空口吃有點鹹,田螺軟綿入味。

Mixed mushroom soup菌香撲鼻,鹹度滑度調較不俗。Special soup of the day為蕃茄周打蜆湯,蕃茄出力頗強,稍稍蓋過忌廉蜆肉等味道,口感亦略為薄身,普普通通。

甜品是Macaron拼Homemade chocolate,Macaron有咖啡及杏仁口味兩款,味道不算很甜,但口感實了少許,少了點煙韌感。Homemade chocolate由三層不同口感的朱古力夾層組成,最上層是朱古力軟糕,朱古力濃香細滑。中層朱古力脆脆夾層,入口脆身,另帶點果仁味道。最底層是朱古力蛋糕,食味相對上沒有軟糕及脆脆夾層般突出,但為添加口感層次之效,亦有正面作用。

初到慢吃, 先來個白酒煮蜆。蔥粒, 芹段爽口鮮味, 蜆肉有彈性, 雖然不大隻, 但是可口怡人。酒香味道適中, 沒有太多煮過的苦味, 但也可幫蜆肉辟去腥味, 不錯。

煙鱔條沙律, 老實說, 海鮮盤或是沙律絕不能令我心動, 這只是很一般。不過真正讓我不吃不可就是這一個。可愛可人的煙燻香氣, 注入半熟而有無比彈性的鱔肉條之中。雖然這次味道是鹹了一點, 但是依然足夠吸引。夾上沙律菜同吃, 令味道平衡多。

煎黑毛豬柳扒, 餐廳火候處理一流, 七成熟而帶有少許淡粉紅的半凝血水。粉紅汁鎖在肉的完美結構裡之內, 令肉質吃來神奇的順滑, 而軟稔質感更是吸引得神奇。餐廳的火候除將豬肉內裡煮得完美之外, 外層一樣動人。在半透半鬆的脂肪經煎過之後, 入口香味回味無比。這個菜的確十分不錯。

而另一個一流作品, 就是這個用上慢煮精製的牛仔肉面頰肉。這個面頰肉雖然其貌不揚, 但入口的鬆化程度能夠叫人驚訝, 肉件經過長時間慢煮, 令肉質組織一絲絲分解, 入口即溶。而且肉頰組織由瘦肉及水晶肉相間, 瘦肉竟然軟滑, 而水晶肉稔淋中帶膠口感覺。汁醬味道但不搶味不霸道, 依然能吃到牛仔肉微羶香。絕對是一級推介菜式。

接下來又來一個, 香煎鵝肝及鵪鶉腿。鵝肝香羶, 煎得外脆內軟, 內地仍有少許稔流, 但甘香味道很好。外層焦脆香口, 感覺不錯。反而鵪鶉就略覺普通, 雖然外皮也香, 肉質亦嫩, 但是香口與甘香味道不及鵝肝搶眼。

另外這一個是每次來必吃的一個粉, 基本上是Ali Oli做法。用上Linguini闊意粉, 橄欖油, 紅椒粉, 蒜片做的熱拌粉, 加上意大利蕃茄乾, 味道一流。蕃茄乾鹹甜酸, 加上紅椒粉辣及蒜片惹味。另外, 意粉水煮時間掌握好, 意粉富有韌度彈性, 口感極佳。

另一個是口感滑溜, 質感不算太濃厚, 但有明顯密度。芝士味道香, 餅底也可以。

整體來說, 餐廳從來質素都有一定水平, 小店式招呼及親切。不過地方小, 座位空間不算太多, 但就是有種輕鬆感覺。

My father is a big wine aficionado, and he always seems to have another new trick up his sleeve when it comes to the vino.

Among them, is this cute wine collar - which makes a bottle of red look like a tuxedo. Its purpose is to soak up any drips that fall after the wine has been poured. Wine collars can get pretty fancy, using metal and velvet, but this one is quick, fast and inexpensive.

At La Fleur you can BYOB (bring your own booze), which we did... before moving on to food.

Lesson 2 arose during our starters, which included moules (mussels). As you can see in the photo, I'm using bread to soak up the sauce.

- Bread is a staple in French dining - 9 times out of 10, bread is served with breakfast, lunch and dinner in a basket (as you see above). And with cheese, too - of course!

- The French word for bread is pain and it's actually the root for the French word for friend: copain. A friend (or companion) is someone you break bread with, hence "co-pain".

- Don't bite into the piece of bread with your teeth, when dining à la Française. Instead, tear off small pieces with your hand.

- You can use those pieces to soak up any sauce of your choice. This is normal and totally acceptable among family and friends... that's what bread was made for, right?

French cuisine can use a lot of butter, fat, cream and oil. In other words, they know what tastes good, and aren't afraid to use it!

Our two excellent meat dishes during main course exemplified the best of this "life is short" spirit, when it comes to French food. They were a wonderful Duck Confit and Quail with panfried Goose Liver.

Duck Confit is prepared by preserving the meat with various herbs and spices before poaching it in its own fat. Yup, it doesn't get more intense than that!

La Fleur's version was a triumph! With crispy and fatty skin encasing meat so tender that only a gentle gesture with my fork was enough to separate it from the bone, the taste and texture was on par with our favourite neighborhood restaurant in France - and trust me, that's saying something for authentic French!

Then there was the delicate - and expertly cooked - quail, paired with a generous portion of goose liver. A combination of rich, gamey and roasted flavours, the meat bathed in its own reduced wine sauce. Delicious.

Both dishes were as filled with cholesterol as they were with culinary joy. By far the highlights of the night.

I say c'est la vie (that's life) for Lesson 4 because in a traditional, family restaurant in France it's expected that not everything will be perfect.

Sometimes, Hong Kong diners (including myself) forget that part of food culture: a restaurant doesn't have to excel in every single dish to be a restaurant worth visiting.

For example, your typical French restaurant in France will have several dishes that they specialise in, or are famous for, and that's why patrons visit and return.

In the case of La Fleur, it was absolutely the meat dishes that shone, while our other orders varied from good to disappointing (see above photo).

However, before closing shop - I would like to highlight the Smoked Eel Salad, which was a very pleasant surprise! It had a very soft texture and a fascinating flavour somewhere in between ham and salmon (you'll believe me when you try it!). Not a single bone got in the way of my enjoyment either... yummy!

Fairly priced, La Fleur is an alternative to ultra-pricey, perfectionist French dining that offers some exceptional dishes in its traditional menu.

We had a very pleasant evening, and the restaurant staff graciously left us undisturbed - as we talked art theory and finished our wine - even after all the other customers had gone.

最後是牛扒, 相較之下, 這個沒有之前的特別, 不過也是不錯的呵!

綜觀來說, 這餐廳的食物, 用料與煮功都是很不錯的, 而且老闆也是一個有要求的人. 餐廳座位不多, 著重的是交流, 令食物加了一份人情味與親切感. 不過老闆也是一個有性格的人, 率直的對話才算發於真誠, 這樣才有小店風格. 如喜歡這類型的朋友不妨一試.
題外話/補充資料: 每一門生意有它的賺錢方法, 每一間餐廳也有其生存之道, 這點小店並不比大集團/連繫式餐廳遜色. 再者, 小店的親和力是大連鎖店不能模仿的獨特力量, 往往令人不經不覺的又回來了, 有如"深夜食堂"般的感覺. 可是, 現在的世代, 小店面對的挑戰也不少. 食材價格上漲, 租金狂升, 人力生產力不足等. 小店經營朋友需多花心思作取捨. 如要保持食材質量, 成本必然提高, 但賣價卻不能三級跳. 可是, 如將貨就價, 整體食物質數與口碑便有所動搖. 希望小店朋友繼續努力把關, 不然市場只剩下大連鎖便很沒趣了!

頭盤點了招牌菜的鵝肝鴨胸卷,味道果然名不虛傳。菜式的賣相當然沒有正宗法式餐廳的那麼亮麗,但味道一點都不輸蝕。外層美味的鴨胸包裹着幼滑的自家製鵝肝醬,入口感覺細緻,倘若鴨胸可以稍為輕輕香煎一下,又或者從鵝肝醬中再加入點點酒香的話,相信效果必然滿分。
招牌菜的鵝肝鴨胸卷果然名不虛傳。

一塊塊的燒鴨胸肉排成一把扇的形狀,賣相討好。鴨臊味雖不算太濃,但以紅酒為主的調味發揮不俗,水準相信拍得住不少正宗法式餐廳的作品。

總結
喜歡正宗法國菜或追求浪漫情調的朋友,La Fleur 絕對不是你們那杯茶。餐廳炮製的其實是進化版的港式法國菜,不過食物的水準令人驚喜,縱使簡陋的裝飾和拘謹的服務未必人人受落,但偶爾一試亦無妨。
