Can’t believe my first visit was almost 4 years ago! So happy it survives from the covid! And of course for a good reason. 2 of us wanted to try more dishes so we didn’t go for set lunch. But $298 without service charge is definitely a winner in Central for a decent lunch. Mixed Pitted Olives Focaccia Focaccia is hot and soft with a beautiful fragrance. Would definitely have more if we hadn’t ordered lot of dishes. Cured Hamachi Tartare Turnip, Yuzu Kosho, Yamaimo, Spring Onion Dashi It’s a light dish. Do miss the fresh seafood flavour from the hamachi tho. Ox Tongue & Crispy Tripe Mushroom Miso Paste, Peanut Sauce, Siu Tong Choi A dish full of Asian flavour. Ox tongue is so good. It’s in thick cut and grilled perfectly. Potato & Mushroom Dumplings Sauce Soubise, Fresh Truffles, Mushroom, Parmesan Crisp Can’t believe this is a vegetarian dish. Big dumpling filled with potato and mushroom. Sauce is so creamy. Black truffle makes everything better! “Cha Siu” Glazed Octopus Smoked Cauliflower Puree, Brassicas, Ginger Oil, Spring Onion Octopus is cooked perfectly. Really tender inside. But the cha siu rub did confused me a bit. Didn’t feel like I was having seafood. Guess I prefer a simple way of cooking seafood instead. Prawn Risotto Calédonien Blue Prawn, Crispy Pork Skin, Spring Onion Interesting to put fried pork skin to create a crunchy texture. Prawn is fresh and risotto is nicely cooked. Wagyu Steak Sandwiches Onion, Rocket, Mustard Mayonnaise Definitely one of their signature dish. Love the combination of caramelized onion and the mayonnaise. Perfect match with the steak! Love it! Cheese 3 bottles for 2 person for lunch? It’s not a dream!

I have a guilty pleasure. Every time I went to USA, I always wanted a chicken waffle. It’s one of the classic American dish which a deep fried chicken cutlet on top of a waffle. Serve with maple syrup. Simply indulgent. My friend introduced me this small cafe which serves deep fried chicken cutlet on sourdough. Ot definitely caught my eyes! This restaurant is so cute. Quite Korean/Japanese style. Immediately I ordered Crispy Gee and add on hash brown. Why not making this Sunday brunch more evil? Crispy Gee Yogurt marinated fried chicken, sourdough, poached egg, avocado, homemade chilli mayo I was so pumped when I saw the dish on my table. The chicken cutlet is massive! Super crispy while still very juicy inside. Chilli mayo is not bad. Hash brown is crispy! Sourdough is a bit soft after all the sauce. Not my favourite sourdough. Juicy inside In progress… Ordered a cafe latte with oat milk. Pretty decent coffee! Definitely a great spot for some good breakfast. Glad that now I have one more choice in this area!

Thanks to a regular guest, he arranged us a lovely omakase dinner in the private room. All staffs are very attentive, friendly and warm. L Top: Ishdai L Middle: Saba (Mackerel) L Bottom: Ankimo (Monkfish liver) R Top: Yika (Squid) R Middle: Oyster R Bottom: Tachiuo Love the flavour of onion to go with the saba. Such a perfect match! Ankimo is just creamy, silky smooth. Melt in my mouth. Squid is so tender. And the squid eggs inside got an interesting texture. Tachiuo is grilled perfectly. Love the fragrance. Shirako (white semen of cod fish) I am not a big fan of shirako. It’s not about the texture. It’s because of its brain-liked appearance. I tried deep fried shirako and I liked it. So this is my first time to try the torched one. Super creamy and I do like the slightly dry, crispy at the outside. As long as it’s not 100% raw and white in colour, count me in! Sushi time! L Top: Sayori L Middle: Hokkigai L Bottom: Kinmedai R Top: Sakura Masu R Middle: Aji R Bottom: Anago My favourite one is Sakura Masu and Aji. Salmon sushi is never my thing and I normally just try to avoid it. Love the onion on the aji and gave a good kick of it. Kinmedai is light and clean. Always on my list! Before they prepared the sushi, they showed us the “before” of some fresh ingredients. Hokkaido Ebi Toro Akami (bottom), otoro (middle), chutoro (top) Uni Kuruma ebi Look at these beauties!!!!! From top to bottom is akami, chutoro and otoro. Cut is perfect! And simply can see the skill of the chef! All 3 are great but the otoro is the best! Amazing! Ebi family! From the top is Hokkaido ebi. So sweet and fresh! Middle is kuruma ebi. Last one is the tails of 4 kuruma ebi. Chef made 2 pieces from our 8 ebi. You can taste different texture between the shrimp body and the tail. Interesting! Uni Generous amount of uni. I just love uni!!! Dessert is super sweet Japanese strawberry tart. Brick pastry is crispy. Not a sweet tooth but I could definitely have some more of this. I can definitely, easily recommend this omakase to others. What a great night and show! I am happy about what I paid and what I had!

I am definitely outdated. I didn’t know Hotel Regent is the old Intercontinental until my friends kept talking about The Steak House. Great! That means we can finally go to the legendary THE Steak House again! Time flies! My last visit was in 2013. Still remember there’s construction going on at the facade and it blocked out the harbour view. Arrived early when the restaurant was empty. Greeted by warm, lovely staffs. Appreciate they know the design of the chair is a bit big so they offer a cushion for the ladies for our back. Love the view of the harbour. Beautiful spot for the sunset. Before we placed our orders, we checked the meat first! They also gave us a tour to show us the salad bar. Compared to the salad bar in the past, seems like they have minimized the variations but all looks very fresh. For the meat shelf, it’s just so attractive and the meat is displayed decently. Made us even more difficult to make our decisions. Thumbs up to the sourdough. Serving on a warm pad to keep it warm. Beef Tenderloin Tartare 8oz $520 Served with free range egg yolk, condiments. My friend is a big fans of beef tartare. We were joking he’d properly take 6oz out of it. He definitely approved this tartare as he wanted to order another one. We stopped him of course as we had already ordered a lot of dishes. King Crab Cake, Tartar sauce, lemon $260 Salute to the king crab and the chef! This is one of the best crab cake I’ve ever had. You can taste the sweetness and how fresh the King crab is. I can hear Gordon Ramsey’s yelling “Never make crab cake with beautiful fresh crab!”. I understand his point. But using high quality fresh crab for crab cake is definitely elevating the dish to another level. And yes, we have encored another portion. Grilled octopus, tomato chutney, picked mustard seeds $300 Interesting presentation with chips. Octopus is tender and grilled perfectly. Bone marrow, Uni, parsley, garlic, shallots, capers, yuzu kosho $250 An indulgent bite of uni together with bone marrow. Yuzu levels down the heaviness and oily sensation of the bone marrow. I do enjoy this version of bone marrow. Uruguayan Asado Angus Beef 4oz, chimichurri sauce, crispy onion $400 We are very curios about the Uruguayan but not adventurous enough to order a big Uruguayan steak. This is a good choice for us to small portion. The beef flavour is very tense and not much fat in it. It’s a decent dish but Uruguayan is not on my my favourite steak list. Choose our weapon before the star arrives. Love how sharp the knives are. Here it comes! We picked the T-Bone from the meat shelf which is around $4000. It’s from Mayura Farm in Australia. It’s full blooded wagyu. Meaning the whole family is from wagyu but they are raised in Australia but not in Japan. And yes, they are fed with chocolate. I first thought strip part would be leaner than the tenderloin. Tenderloin part is perfect! Definitely one of the best I had. Strip part for me is too fat so I had one and I already felt I had enough. Whole steak grilled perfectly tho. Of course there’s different salts and condiments you can go with. For sides, we have ordered potatoes au gratin $98, and sautéed mushroom $98. Au Gratin is soso. Potatoes were a bit under. Mushrooms are great! Baked Alaska $450 Not sure who ok earth ordered this baked alaska. Definitely add a bit drama to the dinner but it’s not my choice of dessert always. My friends love it but I just don’t enjoy the liquor with cakes. Just not my thing. After a few bottles and lots of laughters, time to go home with a big belly, and a happy, satisfying mood.

It’s weekend. And it’s time for boozy brunch! Peninsular, is one of my favourite hotel in Hong Kong but I’ve never tried the brunch in Felix before. Finally my friend did bring it up and we finally visited this restaurant situates on the top floor of the hotel. Whole atmosphere is totally different from the rest of the part of the hotel. Mainly cover by white colour and the restaurant is so bright especially under the sunlight. First thing you notice will be their designer chair with human faces on it. And also the spectacular view of Victoria Harbour. Welcome drink and free flow champagne Nothing can beat this view for sure. Ham and cheese, and some salad to share after serving the warm bread basket. I chose chawanmushi for my egg dish. It was delightful with scallop. Sadly it was a bit cold. Properly they didn’t serve it right away when it’s ready. Assorted fresh seafood. Abalone and lobster is definitely my favourite. Seafood is so fresh. Do prefer scallop is sashimi scallop tho. We did have 2nd round for the seafood before main course was served. Lobster risotto. Generous amount of lobster meat. Risotto is perfectly cooked. Creamy and full of seafood flavour. Beef wellington Pastry fell apart a bit. Seasoning is great and the steak is perfectly medium rare cooked. Dessert Dessert is a bit dull and average. Do expect a bit more. Definitely can do better. Seafood is the highlight for sure. Of course, and the view!
